North Asia Tax Supervisor, APAC

The North Asia Tax Supervisor is primarily responsible for supporting corporate tax compliance obligations for a number of countries, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, Japan and Korea. This includes timely filing of tax returns and replies to queries from tax offices. He/she will assist the Tax Manager on any other adhoc tax projects relating to transfer pricing, cross-border transactions, indirect tax matters, withholding taxes and treaty interpretation.
Major Responsibilities:
- Assist in the coordination and oversight of tax compliance and tax accounting to ensure the timely filing of corporate tax returns and advise and manage positions taken in the tax returns, where applicable
- Address tax issues associated with routine operational matters (both direct and indirect taxes).
- Assist tax manager in the tax audit by local authorities
- Work closely with external tax advisors to obtain appropriate advice on the tax implications of transactions, negotiate with local tax authorities and obtain advance rulings where applicable.
- Manage transfer pricing strategy
- Manage the Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and FIN 48 reporting
- Keep abreast of new tax law changes and work with tax manager to evaluate impact on Company’s operations
Basic Requirement:
- Accountancy or Law degree with specialization in Taxation or Chartered Accountant.
- 3-4 years experience in major public accounting firm. Commercial experience would be an advantage
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
- Preferably some exposure to regional tax issues.
- Good planning skills with effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and determination in a professional manner
- Ability to work with little or no supervision
- Positive and able to work well in a team
